# VIP Status

How to update the VIP status of a lesson participant

### Overview

In order to highlight guests who you want to pay special attention to, you can mark them as a VIP in Class Management. When you mark someone as a VIP, they will appear with the crown icon <img src="https://3412627069-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fdh5JD0cdH4KWbjolN2Aa%2Fuploads%2FgNZoPYidEMSHQNDAsKZQ%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=0a100a67-ce1b-4928-9567-7ace42c99f0b" alt="" data-size="line"> next to their name. You will see the crown icon appear in the class list as well.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Once marked, VIPs will retain their status for all future classes. You do not need to set the VIP status multiple times.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

VIP status can only be updated in Class Management. Therefore:

* The guest must exist in a class. This can happen in a number of ways; you can pre-assign guests in Scheduling which will generate a class, you can scan them in, and you can also manually create a class using Class Management on both mobile and desktop.
* Because a class can only exist on the current day or a day in the past, you can only adjust VIP status when the guest has already participated in a lesson.&#x20;

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledgebase.flaik.com/flaik-knowledge-base/for-sups-managers/class-management/vip-status.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
