Tag Return Areas & Other Geofencing Available (optional)

flaik does offer some customization to the Tags Not Returned report to refine location of tags not returned/missing. This customization is by request only and is in the form of geofencing for a couple of different categories or zones in and around the resort.

Example of 'Tags Not Returned' report including the four customizable sections requiring geofencing by flaik.

Categories of Geofencing Available-

In Resort Area:

For all resorts that utilize tags within their operation, this geofence comes standard with site build and is the one exception to customization that has to be requested. This geofence is set up as a rectangle around the resort, including all base area operations, lifts, and runs. For reference on this geofence, it is what is seen when navigating to Class Management Mountain View and reviewing the resort map. It does not follow the exact ski area boundary but creates a rectangular bounding box around the resort.

This bounding box is utilized in the Tags Not Returned report to indicate whether a tag is inside or outside of this boundary.

In Tag Return Area:

The intention of a 'Tag Return Area' is to have a geofenced zone indicating that any tags within that zone are in a "return area" and therefore are not actually missing. For example, if there is a specific spot where all instructors are to leave tags at the end of the day that differs from where they get charged, flaik has the ability to geofence that specific spot so that the return area can be indicated on the Tags Not Returned report to see how many tags have been collected there. Alternatively, the tags in return areas can be filtered out altogether from the report so they are not included at all.

Reporting - Tags Not Returned report can be configured to include/exclude any tags that are within Tag Return Areas.

An additional use case for the Tag Return Areas is if the resort has very poor cellular coverage at the tag charging station, preventing the tags from communicating that they have been placed back on charge. If this is the case, an "In Tag Return Area" geofence around this specific area/building, can capture any tags that may have been returned to the power dock but have been unable to communicate their return.

Tags that are not back on power or scanned into another class will show up as outstanding on the Tags Not Returned report.

Village Information:

flaik can also geofence village locations and the intention behind this configuration is to capture as many tags as possible that are still within close proximity to the resort, such as at base area accommodation, restaurants, or other facilities where they could easily be retrieved from the guest/instructor.

On Mountain Location:

The final category of geofence would be On Mountain Location where a resort may record if a tag is at a specific spot on the mountain. For example, a SnowSchool facility that operates on a different part of the mountain, a cafeteria that is used by the SnowSchool at the top of the mountain, or a specific learning terrain area where many lessons take place.

This type of geofence can assist with narrowing in on a precise location to look for missing tags.

Requesting Geofence Configuration-

If you wish to request any of the configurable categories of geofencing, please reach out to [email protected] and a member of our CS team can assist with recording the request and outlining a timeline of implementation.

Configuration can take time and if the request comes in after the resort has been fully onboarded with flaik, the request will be prioritized based on other current initiatives and resources. Please plan ahead and request well in advance of the season start date.

Helpful information to have within the request which can speed up implementation-

  1. Screenshot of the resort map including a clear outline of the specific geofence area being requested (ex. rectangle around a specific building)

  2. Category of geofence

  3. Requested name of geofence
