Conflicts
Within flaik, conflicts show in Scheduling when two or more tasks are overlapping.
In this article we will cover:
What conflicts look like to the scheduler
What conflicts look like to an instructor
How to resolve conflicts
Conflicts with Trainings
Timekeeping when conflicts are in tasks
Conflicts when duplicating tasks
What conflicts look like to the scheduler
Depending on how your resort sets up permissions; an employee who has access to Scheduling (typically an Administrator, Supervisor, Manager, etc) will see conflicts in Scheduling.
Conflicts in Shifts view
Red exclamation marks covering half of an instructor's shift. This does not mean the shift is in conflict, it is letting you know tasks on their schedule for that day are conflicting and need a closer look.

Conflicts in Tasks view
When a conflict exists, the word conflict will appear in a red box next to the instructor's name. The conflicting tasks will appear highlighted in red.

Conflicts in Instructors view
Similar to Tasks view, the word conflict will appear on the date where a schedule conflict exists. The conflicting tasks will appear highlighted in red.

Conflicts in Monthly Overview
While in Shifts or Tasks view, you use the calendar to change the dates you are viewing. Within this calendar, dates where a conflict exists will appear with a red dot underneath the date.

What conflicts look like to the instructor
Mobile view
When browsing My Schedule on mobile, tasks in conflict will appear highlighted in red with the word conflict in the bottom right corner.

Desktop view
My Schedule on desktop presents conflicts very similarly to mobile view. Tasks in conflict will appear highlighted in red with the word conflict in the bottom right corner.

Instructors cannot resolve conflicts on their own schedule - they will need to get in contact with their supervisor or their site admin in order to have the conflict resolved.
How to Resolve Conflicts
First, navigate to Scheduling -> Tasks. Next, decide which approach you would like to take:
A. Deleting a conflicting task: The easiest way to resolve a conflict is to remove the conflicting tasks from the schedule. To do this, click Edit to begin editing the schedule, then click the red conflict button. A window will appear that presents all the tasks on this schedule, with the conflicting tasks highlighted in red. From there, you can delete as many tasks as required in order to resolve the conflict. When finished, click Save & Publish.
B. Editing a conflicting task: You can also edit the start and end times of a task in order to resolve the conflict. To do this, click Edit to begin editing the schedule, and then hover over the conflicting task you would like to adjust. Click the eye icon.

A window will appear that will allow you to change the duration, start time, and end time of the task. Edit these fields as necessary in order to resolve the conflict. When finished, click Done.

Make sure to click Save & Publish.
How do Conflicts interact with Trainings
Question: Will a Trainer/Clinic Leader's schedule throw a conflict if the clinic they lead overlaps with a task?
Answer: No
Trainers always need to be paid out of tasks, you cannot pay a trainer from training. The black bar on their schedule (desktop view) should be partnered with a paid training task.
-------
Question: Will a clinic attendee's schedule throw a conflict if their clinic overlaps with a task?
Answer: Depends
Unpaid clinics will not throw a conflict for anyone
Paid clinics will throw a conflict for attendees
Pro's of paying clinic attendees from training for a paid clinic
They will only be paid if they are marked as attended for a clinic.
If they are a no show and marked as such by the trainer they will not be paid.
Con's of paying clinic attendees from training for a paid clinic
Anyone can sign up for a clinic, this can be a difficult way to manage as an admin even if you are assigning people into the paid clinic
Some schedulers are use to paying trainers from tasks, paying attendees keeps it consistent.
Note: A clinic being paid or not is dependent on the clinic category, made in settings. The clinic category will not 'tell' you anywhere if that category is paid or not, so it's recommend to put 'paid' or an equivalent into the title.
While this Trainer's clinic overlaps with a paid task, there is no conflict being thrown so they will not have a red box warning. Since trainers need to be paid out of tasks and cannot be paid from training, once a task for the clinic is put onto their schedule it will throw a conflict on any overlapping tasks.

There is a black 'training' bar that shows for the scheduler, but no conflict

Timekeeping when conflicts are in Scheduling.
Conflicts cannot occur in Timekeeping
If you do not resolve conflicts in scheduling, the flaik site will choose what to ignore. This is why for your reporting and instructors it is extremely important to resolve all conflicts as soon as you see them.
The hierarchy of how things flow into timekeeping if there is overlap between different areas of the site is:
Class Management
Scheduling
Training
Conflicts when duplicating tasks
The duplicate across days feature is useful for copying an instructor's tasks to additional days in the future. Using this feature will overwrite existing tasks on the instructor's schedule, unless they are private lessons. Attempting to duplicate an instructor's tasks to a day where a private lesson exists will create a conflict upon saving.
Similarly, duplicate across instructors is useful for copying one instructor's schedule over to others. This feature will also overwrite existing tasks on the selected instructors upon which you copy the schedule, unless they are private lessons, which will create a conflict upon saving.
