Returns, Refunds, & Cancellations and their impact on flaik

If an RTP user modifies a lesson product by performing a Return, a Refund, or a Cancellation it can have an impact on instructor pay and inventory pools

How do Returns and Refunds Differ?

The two terms are often used interchangeably by RTP users but the two are significantly different in what they do. Both are performed on a line that has been 'Posted' or 'Fulfilled'. Here's how they compare:

Return

  • The product must previously had a status of 'Post'.

  • To fully undo the purchase of a product (100%).

  • Is the equivalent of buying clothes from a store, changing your mind, and returning it back to the store - it is now back in their inventory and can be sold again.

  • Will remove the participant from an inventory pool (if applicable); will remove a private lesson from an instructor's schedule.

Refund

  • The product must previously had a status of 'Post'.

  • Allows the user to choose how much of the purchase price to credit back to the purchaser. Can be from $0.01 to 100%.

  • Is aimed more at scenarios where the purchaser used the product but the resort is choosing to partially credit them (eg maybe a lesson was cut short or they are receiving credit back for a bad lesson)

  • Will not remove the participant from an inventory pool; will not remove a private lesson from an instructor's schedule (if applicable).

How do they differ to a Cancelled lesson?

A cancelled line in RTP is similar to a return except instead of the product having a status of Posted/Fulfilled it had a status of Open.

  • The product must have had a status of 'Open' in order to be cancelled (if it had a status of Post it must be returned or refunded instead).

  • To fully undo the purchase of a product (100%).

  • Similar to a Return, it will remove the participant from an inventory pool & will remove a private lesson from an instructor's schedule (if applicable).

flaik impacts

As indicated above, a return and a cancel removes a student from an inventory pool and removes a private lesson task from an instructor's schedule. These changes will happen as of the next sync.

Meanwhile, a refund will not remove a student from an inventory pool or remove a private lesson from an instructor's schedule. Therefore, there aren't any updates to sync with flaik.
